Subject: Statut icons for Website
Hello,

I'm quite new around using Jabbim and XMPP protocol.
I currently have a Gmail address under a NET Passeport account (to talk with my friends who use MSN).
I created a Jabbim account and I use the MSN Transport (msn.netlab.cz). It works well but I'd like use statut icon for my Website. Is it possible through the MSN Transport?
I tried when I'm connected with my Jabbim account, it works but it doesn't work when I'm only connected to the MSN Transport.

Is this service could be available for MSN Transport users?

Thank you very much and keep up good work ;)

Well, you can either have status icon for you Jabbim account or you have to ask MSN to give you one for your MSN account. Jabbim is XMPP/Jabber service and we're certainly not going to advertise MSN :-). The transports are only added-value services.

Anyway, how did you manage to connect to msn transport without being connected to Jabbim account? :-)

Thanks for your support, sorry I couldn't help you more :-)

Subject: Status icon offline, but jabber account online
Hi,

me and my colleagues use jabber at work, but the status icons for two of my collegues do not work properly for some strange reason. Both have added jabstatus@njs.netlab.cz to their contact list and authorized it.

The funny thing is, one colleague is online, but her icons is always offline whereas the other colleague is offfline, but his icon status is always online...

Do you have any idea what the cause might be? Help is very much appreciated. Thanks :)

Hello, this is an interesting problem. Do your colleagues use multiple resources? (multiple resources can cause problems). Is there some caching proxy somewhere in the way maybe, which could cache the images despite their change?

Thanks for your prompt answer, but the client software is, as far as I know, only installed on their workstations. So I don't think multiple resources can be the problem. Cache can't be it either, because my icon and my other colleagues icons work properly, and all our icons are on the same webpage. We've tested it in Opera, Firefox, Konqueror, Internet Explorer, it doesn't matter which browser we use. I also emptied the browsers' cache, it doesn't help.

Very strange indeed...

Hm, try to make sure the jabstatus contact is added well (correct JID etc) and properly authorized (subscription both) and there's no typo in the image code (mispespelled JID).

You can also join our MUC room jabber@conf.netlab.cz (web interface here), maybe you'll meet jabstatus's current admin there and we could talk about it in real time.

Hi,

Though I use AdiumX IM client, it manages several accounts in the same time. So I just kept jabstatus@njs.netlab.cz in my Jabber contacts and now I can have my icon for my MSN account as the Jabber account is connected/managed in parallel.

Thanks.

I am not sure if I understood the question well. You want to have separate status icon for your MSN account independent of the jabstatus contact, right? If so, I am afraid this is out of topic of this forum, because when you use Adium's MSN protocol you connect directly to MSN and you have to ask for MSN or Adium support.

In fact, there isn't free service to show your MSN status on the Web. I don't really remember what I did with my emails/contacts because when I started to use AdiumX I wanted to connect with my MSN ID (which is in fact a Gmail ID). Or AdiumX accepted only MSN second level domain to add a new MSN account (hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com, etc.).
So, I needed to use a MSN transport to connect via AdiumX on the MSN network with my Gmail ID. At this point, I needed (and I don't remember why) to create a XMPP account and transfert all my MSN contact with Psy. Following that, I could connect to my MSN ID throught the MSN transport of my XMPP account (which is linked to my Gmail ID via Psy) :D

The point is that now everything works very well. My Jabber account has only one contact (jabber status) who returns me my status for Web use.

That's not very nice of you, you only use transport and webstatus and you don't have any real users who would bring more Jabbim users...

Anyway, what's the question then?

Hello,

Sorry to re-start this topic again, but I'm trying to get this to work for my website. Although I can get the image to show up, I can't get the php to work.

I have a preview site at http://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/testbed/

The php I have is

<?php
$m ="http://netlab.cz/status/?jid=coreymwamba@jabber.cz&ib=psi&type=text";
readfile($m);
?>

And the message I get is "Error: You need specify JID and imagebase!"

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I worked it out: should have used type=var. I think I've been on your server for quite a few year now, and I didn't realise it could do this - such a great service!
